I’ve been turning my basement office into a YouTube-ready studio. It’s a mess, for sure, but that’s the norm when it comes to building a scrappy business.

These are the tools & equipment that make The Bootstrapped Founder happen.

Hi!

I know, I know.

I know, I know.

On this page, I’ll share the tech —from hardware to software— that I use every day to write, engage on social media, produce my podcast, and record my videos. I’ll also give a brief explanation for each item as to why I got it, if it’s any good, and how I use it.

You’ll find affiliate links here that will generate a small commission for me at no cost to you. Clicking them will support me and my work, so it’s most appreciated.

Core Tools

These are the main devices that I operate from.

MacBook Air M1

MacBook Air with M1 chip

I never thought I’d rely on a MacBook Air for all of my work, but the M1 chip blows everything I owned previously out of the water. On this laptop, I write, I produce, I record, and I do everything else. This is my main —and only— machine.

Due to the small number of ports, I use several Adapters.

USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

I have two Apple USB-C Multiport adapters that I use most of the time. I plug a USB hub into one of them, allowing me to connect all my USB dongles and cables.

USB C Hub HDMI Adapter for MacBook Pro 2019/2018/2017, MOKiN 5 in 1 Dongle USB-C to HDMI, Sd/TF Card Reader and 2 Ports USB 3.0 (Space Gray)

For reading SD and microSD cards, I use the MOKiN USB-C adapter. They’re been pretty reliable, and I’d always go for the model with most capabilities if I were to re-buy it.

iPhone 13 Pro

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max - Apple (CA)

This is my center of operations. The camera is obscenely good, I recorded my course Find your Following with it. Check out the sample video in HD to see what this phone can do.
